Attack in Afghan prison during the cease fire promoted a new clash between Jihadists and Security Forces

Some armored men attacked a prison in Jalalabad, East Afghanistan, last sunday - August, 02nd, in the last hours of truce. The clash finished in the morning of monday, when the security forces arrested 1,700 men of ISIS and Taliban fighters. The ISIS in Afghanistan claimed the attack by a public media communication in their Amaq propaganda agency.

More than 1,000 prisoners could escape at the moment of the attack, but they were captured. This was the most violent incident in Afghanistan since Taliban and Security Forces of the country agreed to a ceasefire of three days, for the Muslim holiday Eid al-Adha, which finished in sunday. Seems like the idea was to insurrect while the security forces weren't waiting for a fast answer, a part of a quick fire strategy - similar to Blitzkrieg.

In Jalalabad, the government said that only 29 people died during the combat in prison. This attack was about to avenge the death of one high command leader of ISIS, close to Jalalabad. The province of Nagarhar was the expectation of a lot of direct attacks by ISIS, including in may, which murdered 32 people in the funeral of the Police Commander.
